Management Team

  • Anthony Ang - CEO

    Anthony Ang is currently Singapore’s non-resident Ambassador to Tunisia, and Chairman / Board member / Advisor to several fintech and technology start-ups, and listed companies in Asia. He is a global executive with over 40 years of senior management experience - in government at the Singapore Government Investment Company (“GIC”) , Economic Development Board (“EDB”), and the private sector - at ARA Group, Vertex Management and Armstrong Industrial Corporation. His broad experience covered international marketing, investment promotion, manufacturing and fund management (in venture capital, private equity and REITs in the last 20 years). Mr. Ang has also been a director of various listed companies in Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia since 1995.

    Anthony Ang was recently CEO of Sasseur Asset Management, manager of Sasseur REIT (SGX “CRPU”). During his tenure, Anthony was awarded the “Best CEO (Platinum)” in 2019 and 2020 for REIT management in Singapore (Fortune Times Awards), having successfully led the entire listing process for Sasseur REIT as the first outlet mall REIT to be listed in Asia in 2018 (with an AUM of USD1.3B), and having Sasseur REIT recognized as the REIT company of the Year in Singapore within a short two years of operation. Prior to that Mr. Ang was CEO of the manager of Hong Kong-listed Fortune REIT (with an AUM of USD 4.5B (which is part of the ARA Group and was recognized as “Best CEO (Third)” and “Best CEO (First)” for Hong Kong in 2013 and 2014 respectively by the Annual Best Managed Companies Poll by FinanceAsia - a leading Finance magazine in Asia.

    At ARA Group, Mr. Ang also successfully set up and was CEO of its flagship USD $1.13 billion Asia Dragon Fund, with a pan Asia real estate investment mandate in 2007. At GIC Real Estate, Anthony was Global Head for Admin and Corporate Affairs, responsible for supporting its global multi-billion investment activities. On the technology front, He was SVP of Vertex Management, a leading global VC with HQ in Singapore, and successfully led its investments efforts in Japan, India, and Singapore. He is currently a Venture Partner of iGlobe Partners, a very successful VC fund with HQ in Singapore. Mr. Ang’s broad management and cross-cultural experience put him in an excellent position to lead the IPO of Global Star SPAC, targeting investment in Fintech and Proptech companies in Asia.

  • Shan Cui - CFO

    Shan Cui is a seasoned executive with expertise in the Capital Markets, US SPAC, IPO, Investor Relations, SOX, Financial Planning and Analysis, SEC Reporting, Financial Systems, CFO Services and Project Management. She is a cross functional team leader with a successful track record in driving critical transformation, M&A, deal origination, funding, and improving financial performances, business processes, and operational efficiency.

    Ms. Cui is a frequent speaker at investment conferences and is bilingual in English and Chinese.

    Shan Cui is a key member of an experienced SPAC management team, with 4 SPAC IPOs, and 2 more filed. She has experience in investment banking advisory and CFO services working with companies in US and Asia on SPAC funding, deal origination, DD, investment evaluation, joint venture, M&A, pre-IPO advisory, and post IPO capital market activities.

    Ms. Cui also has private equity fund advisory and management expertise in renewable energy, biotechnology, and TMT industries.

  • Nicholas Khoo - COO

    Nicholas Khoo has a diversified career spanning over 20 years. He has worked with both tech startups and Fortune 500 CEOs. He has also provided leadership in the Asia Pacific and Japan for a consulting team in Visa supporting the largest online merchants in risk management and served on Visa's Asia Pacific Merchant Sales & Solutions leadership.

    Mr. Khoo has advised or invested in over a dozen tech startups from the early stage, with some reaching valuations above US$100 million. He is also serving as an investment committee member of the Tribeca Global SPAC Fund.

    Nicholas Khoo has served on various official boards and committees in Singapore, including the Casino Regulatory Authority, National Crime Prevention Council, Internet and Media Advisory Committee, and the Global Esports Federation.

    Over the last 6 months, Mr. Khoo has worked as an Investment Committee Member of Global Fund, a sponsored affiliate.

  • Jukka Ranilla

    Jukka Ranilla became an investment professional in 2003. He started his career as an equity analyst, soon becoming a portfolio manager at a global equity fund (Sifter Fund). He has gained a wealth of experience of hedge funds, having been a founding partner at a CIS-focused hedge fund (Ilmatar) and portfolio manager at Visio Allocator Fund. Additionally, Mr. Ranilla was a founding partner of the highly successful Berlin RE funds. Over the years Mr. Ranilla has served on boards of well over a dozen companies. These companies have operated in various sectors including asset management, RE funds, robotics, fashion & design, and manufacturing.

    In addition, Mr. Ranilla has been a member of several investment committees. Currently, He is an investment committee member at Forea – a multi-family office. Mr. Ranilla is CEO of his family office Assai, with a focus on VC, growth companies, and listed equities.

  • Yang Kan Chong

    Yang K. Chong adds more than 30 years of expert experience in energy (power, oil, gas). Currently, Mr. Chong is heading up the firm’s Asia SPAC investments while based in Singapore. He has deep relationships with the investment community throughout Asia.

    Mr. Chong also worked as a key manager of both Singapore and foreign listed companies managing projects and people in multi and cross-cultural environments. He is the current Senior Advisor of Tangent Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. Mr. Chong was previously the Managing Director of Asia Petroleum Technology Pte Ltd, President & CEO of the US-listed China New Energy Group Company, Group Deputy CEO of the Singapore-listed China EnerSave Limited, several US energy giants, and Singapore Government-linked companies.

    Over the past 12 months, Mr. Chong has worked as an Investment Committee Member of Global Fund, a sponsor affiliate.

  • Chew Hai Chwee

    Chew H. Chwee is an Entrepreneur, an Independent Director and Executive Director, and CEO. He started his career as an accountant rising to Finance manager, then to Finance Director, before becoming CFO, COO, and finally CEO working for Asian and US multinationals and local organizations.

    Mr. Chwee took up Directorship positions in Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX) listed companies and NASDAQ listed companies, as well as, contributed to his experience and expertise with private companies and charities.

  • Stephen Drew

    Stephen Drew has 25 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, and fintech-related businesses. Mr. Drew is a Managing Partner of Tribeca Global SPAC Fund, where he is responsible for evaluating SPAC investment opportunities and raising capital from institutional and high-net-worth investors. He works closely with the firm’s SPAC investment partners and guides them through the IPO and de-SPAC process.

    Since 2019, Mr. Drew has been the US-based partner of a $27.5Bn asset manager based in Asia for equity investments. Earlier in his career, Mr. Drew worked at Wall Street firms Smith Barney, Citigroup, and Gruntal & Co.
